67% companies chose NGOs for CSR implementation
Sixty seven per cent of domestic companies have chosen non-government organisations (NGOs) as partners to undertake their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects, while 58 per cent prefer government departments for the spread of CSR obligations, Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) says. The chamber, in its assessment, ‘CSR: Quantitative Analysis’, said 21 domestic companies were working with multilateral or bilateral organisations for CSR activities. The study added 37 per cent of the firms had a well-structured foundation for implementing their CSR, while 58 per cent domestic companies had formed a separate department to implement CSR.

Markets end flat
The indices closed flat for the third consecutive session. In line with its Asian peers, the Sensex was down nearly 200 points in opening trades. But a recovery in the Japanese markets engineered a turnaround on Dalal Street. The Sensex finally ended at 16,356, lower by one point, and the Nifty closed at 4,906, up 24 points. FIIs were net buyers of Rs 1,061.90 crore on Tuesday, January 5, according to data released by Sebi today. While FIIs made gross purchases of Rs 3,338.30 crore, gross sales totalled Rs 2,276.30 crore. Mutual funds (MFs) were net buyers of Rs 43.40 crore on Tuesday. MFs made purchases of Rs 1,030.70 crore and sales of Rs 987.30 crore.
