Singapore company, Indian port to set up shipyard at Kakinada
Sembmarine Kakinada Limited (SKL), a joint venture of Singapore-based Sembawang Shipyard Pvt Ltd and Kakinada Seaports Ltd, has announced the establishment of a shipyard at Kakinada port at an estimated cost of $375 million to cater to offshore units and merchant vessels operating in Indian waters.

Big Bazaar, the hypermarket of Pantaloon Retail, has come out with a breakfast cereal range under its private label, Tasty Treat. Big Bazaar already sells noodles, pasta, vermicelli, soups, namkeens, chips, toast, khari, papads, jams, pickles, carbonated drinks, ketchup and fruit beverages under the brand. It has now added breakfast cereals to the range.

Nokia to axe 330 jobs in Finland, Denmark

Handset giant Nokia today said it will cut around 330 jobs in Finland and Denmark, as part of streamlining research and development operations. - Simple joys - Nokia, ITC e-Choupal partner to offer agri-content - Senior Nokia official named Finnair CEO - IIM-L sees 25 per cent rise in summer job offers - State aims to revive IT sector with event - Nokia recalls 7210 charger The company plans to streamline research and development (R&D) operations in Finland and Denmark, which is expected to affect up to 230 employees at the Oulu site (Finland) and about 100 employees at the Copenhagen site, Nokia said in a statement. The company has around 17,000 employees in the research and development division, of which more than 2,000 are in Oulu and over 1,000 are based in Copenhagen. The company said it aims to support the employees with alternative solutions, such as finding new positions within the company for as many employees as possible. Nokia, in the third quarter of 2009, reported an operating loss of euro 426 million. It had posted an operating profit of euro 1.5 billion in the year-ago period.
